Sweet on my lips … Mirabai

Each letter of your name languidly sift through
my fingers and disappear swiftly through the
sands of the Sahara

You are so far …
Can still feel the branding seared by
your soul on my heart

So sweet on my lips … Mirabai

I cannot see your face
Even after all this time … you deny me
the right … my right …
to gaze upon the darkness
of your eyes …
glide upon the silk
that is your golden skin and
read the poetry of  soft lips
I can still feel against my heat

Sweet on my lips … Mirabai

All that is left are the tiny dying petals of jasmine
discarded so long ago …
yet ever so fragrant with your essence …
sweetly intoxicating

You are so far …
Can still feel the desolation left by
your words in my core

Sweet on my lips … Mirabai
