| For those of you who emailed me to let me know that one of the links was leading to an adult site, my biggest apologies. All dead links, and the questionable link that led to that very strange site, have now been removed. I do intend to keep up with checking the links to make certain that they all stay active, and "family friendly." Thanks for giving me the heads up! A Gathering of Tribes Magazine - Dedicated to information regarding the yearly gathering of nations Pow Wow. Artwork of George Yepes, The - Check out his murals, their way cool! Association For The Study of American Indian Literatures - This site has a lot of information for Native American writers, and in particular, two spirits. Azteca Web Page - A web page that contains a lot of good Chicano links. Baca, Joe - artists who makes Santa Clara Pueblo pottery. Chicano Chronicles - Some local home boys put this site together and I think its outstanding. After reading their commentaries, I'm not at all worried about where the Chicano youths are heading! Check 'em out sometime. Chicano Literature Index, The - If you're looking for some links to Chicano authors, go to this site and you'll find a lot that will keep you reading for some time. El Teatro Campesino - First political theatre group organized by author, screen writer, director Luis Valdez. Fiction Addiction - A good site for writers. Four Winds Trading Company - This is a good place to buy your Native American music. Gorman, R.C. - A Navajo painter, and in my opinion, perhaps one of the best artists of our time. Gathering of Nations Pow Wow - If you're interested in joining any of the gatherings, this is the place to check for important dates and locations. Harjo, Joy - I originally thought she was a writer, but then I discovered that she's also a talented muscian. If you want some spiritually grounding music, check out her work. Haworth Press, The - A place to purchase gay and lesbian literature. Lopez, George - I saw him live in concert and this guy is funnier on stage than in his sitcom. If you can, go and see his act. He is so hilarious that he makes you realize that your weird family is not really so weird after all... at least not with fellow Chicano's! ;-) Los Loney Boys - *** added 3/5/04 *** I haven't heard such jamming sounds like this since Los Lobos was being played everywhere. These vato's know their music, and they know how to keep the sound of our people alive. Check out their web site, and if you can, go buy their CD. Most importantly, if their ever playing in your area, run, don't walk, to go listen to them perform! Mankillers, The - The first and only all women's Native American drumming group. Mira Bai - She could be considered the first feminist of India. Morse, Nora Naranjo - Native American, Santa Clara Pueblo sculpture, who is also my favorite artist. Mosaic Books - A web site specializing in African American literature. Native American Art Studies - Dedicated to the study of art work created by artists from all tribes of the Americas. Native American Music Awards - Native American's answer to the Grammys. The NAMMYs give awards to various outstanding music created and performed by Native Americans. Native America On line - A good source for information on Native Arts, Culture & Events. Native American Women Playwrights Archive - A great resource for information on Native American women playwrights. New Zealand Natural Goods *** added 2/11/04 *** yeah, yeah, I know, New Zealander's aren't exactly considered "Ethnic minorities" in the U.S.A., but hey, its my site, and I figured that since I don't know any "Kiwi's" personally, pues, their pretty ethnic to me! Check out this site for some cool treats. Update: If you should have trouble getting into the site, make sure to download the free Macromedia Flash and if you still have problems, drop Steve an email. He's a really cool guy and he'll try his best to figure out why your computer won't get into his site. P. Scott Brown, Bookseller - A place for Latino and Latin American Literature. Pow Wow Trail - A calander listing of Pow Wows. Quick-To-See Smith, Jaune - A Native American Artist RedHawk Indian Arts Council - Presenting, Preserving, and Promoting Native American art. Ritmo Y Mas LatinovMusic & Bookstore - Another site to buy Latino music, and books. Saint-Marie, Buffy - World renowned Native American feminist, activist, singer, songwriter. I know its rare, but you ever have the chance to see her perform live, run, don't walk to her concert!! Shenandoah, Joanne - Another great Native American singer. Young, Al - World renowned African American author. Ulali - Native American women's acapella singing group. Like BSM, if you EVER have the chance to see Ulali in concert, do! Their voices were also used in the movie Smoke Signals, an outstanding Native American movie that I hope many of you have seen. If you haven't, then you can still rent it from Blockbusters, or Hollywood Video. Walela - Native American women's singing group comprising of the famous singer from the 60's/70's, Rita Coolidge, as well as her sister Priscilla Coolidge, and Priscilla's daughter Laura Satterfield. Whitehorse, Harry - Native American Sculptor, Painter and Carver Women Writers.com - A great resource for women writers. |
